Installing and Configuring WS_FTP |
Installing WS_FTP
The following will provide you with instructions on downloading, and
installing WS_FTP.
-
Open your web browser and download the WS_FTP program.
Click on WS_FTP. Your web browser will prompt you to either open the
file or save it to disk. Click the Save button
- Save the file and then double click the file to begin installing the
program.

- Select Continue to begin Installation of WS_FTP LE.

- Select the radio button as shown below, then click Next.

- Click on Accept to Continue with the installation.

- Select OK.

- Select Ok .

- Installation should now be complete click Ok.

- To Create a shortcut to WS_FTP LE on your desktop follow the step
shown below.

Configuring WS_FTP to upload to your ACC Web Account

Open WS_FTP, when you come to the Session Properties
screen, click on New. Type in the Profile Name: ACC,
Host Name/Address: www.austincc.edu, User ID: username,
and Password: ********.
- The User ID will be the username for your web account, it may or may
not be your e-mail username, and the Password is the password for your
web account. If no one but you will use your computer, you may click
on Save Pwd so that you do not have to type in your web account password
everytime you want to FTP files.
- Click on the Startup tab and type in the Initial Remote Host Directory,
the directory that you will be transferring files to/from on the server,
and the Initial Local Directory, the directory you will be transferring
files to/from on your PC. If you are transferring files to/from your
own personal web account, the Initial Remote Host Directory should be
/public_html/ and the Initial Local Directory will be the directory
you will be transferring files to/from on your PC. When you have filled
in the information, click OK

- To transfer files from the WWW server to your PC, click on the file
or files under Remote System then click on the arrow that points
toward the local system. Copies of the file(s) you selected will be
placed in a directory on your local hard disk.
- To transfer files to the WWW server from your PC, click on the file
or files under Local System then click on the arrow that points
toward the Remote System.
