Important:
Update the document locally (on your computer) BEFORE you begin this process.
Browse to the page that has the link ot the document you would like to update with Contribute and press the "Edit Page" button in the top left hand corner of the screen.
Highlight the text that links to the document that you would like to update.
In the Contribute menu at the top of the screen click the "Format" menu item and then scroll down and select the "Remove Link" option.
Notice now the text is not underlined, signifiying the link has been removed and is now ready to be re-linked. Make sure the text you want linked is highlighted.
Press the "Link" button in the
Select the "Browse" button from the dialog box that appears.
Select the UPDATED document that resides locally (on your computer), and then press the "choose" button in the lower right hand corner of this dialog box.
Confirm that the text in the "Link text:" field is the text that you want linked to the document. Confirm that the file that you want linked is in the "File to link to:" field. Press "OK" in the lower right hand corner of this dialog box.
Notice now that the text has been underlined, signifying that the text is now linked to the document.
Press the "Publish" button in the upper left hand corner of the Contribute menu.
Mouse over your new link and check that your link is valid. You can see the url of your UPDATED document in the lower left hand part of the screen.
Note: If you linked to a file that had the exact same name, Contribute will rename the file for you in numerical order upon publishing. Ex: sample.pdf will become sample_001.pdf.
