Please give us at least one specific example of how you will use this information in the coming academic year. Include time frame for completion of this activity. (e.g. I will create and distribute a web survey for office staff to provide feedback on equipment needs. OR I will sign up for additional workshops in Flash this fall in order to create learning activities for my Spring ENGL1013 course.)
Teaching
(48 Uses)
Technology
(38 Uses)
Other (19 Uses) /
(8 Not Useful)
  1. Perhaps as a tool for customized training
  2. If I ever teach any ESL Oral Communication classes again, I'll use video in the classroom for self- and peer- evaluation work. (3)
  3. I will consider adding image content to my ACC course websites.
  4. I will create quizzes during the next semester to provide students a way to better prepare themsevles
  5. Not sure that Hot Potatoes will meet our department needs at this time so not sure I will use it. Might use it for the quizzes and crossword puzzle maker
  6. PTHA 1513 Syllabus, calendar and all powerpoint lecture notes to be placed on Blackboard. Also would like to set up a discussion group between students and faculty to assist with transference of learning from lecture to lab.
  7. Interested in streaming "how to's" and other tutorials.
  8. Use digital stills for demo purposes for instructors/students.
  9. Would like to stream video tutorials but would need content produced.
  10. Stills for how to slide shows for instructors/students
  11. In the Fall I wish to convert all of my study questions for Phlebotomy to this format. They will submit the answers online then get immediate feedback on what the correct answers are. I will not longer grade theses assignments, they will be P/F.
  12. This is actually the workshop that has prepared me to intiate individual dialogue with my students ... not the media merger one ... For that one I will have to work with making recordings and/or video to make full use of the new technology I have learned and I expect that will take me some time.
  13. I will (try to) use what I learned to put text on digital pictures that I take of the children at the lab school.
  14. I will use what I learned to initiate an individual "get to know you" dialogue with each of my students at the beginning of the semester. This will help me to decrease anxiety associated with foreign language study while also assessing the techno -phobia and/or -expertise of my students
  15. Provides methodology for making information interesting for our students.
  16. Provides additional venues for our students
  17. Will put my PCM class onto Blackboard.
  18. Good idea to make a button on the homepage for orientation. I will add an announcment about how to get free email and make entering email a graded activity to encourage students to do it.
  19. Showing students in class how they can get information through the library website.
  20. I will add Flash to current class Web pages to stimulate learning.
  21. I plan to add video to some current class Web pages to stimulate the learning process.
  22. Answer student questions re on line courses
  23. Use Blackboard to supplement instruction, develop interactive exercises and assessments for students
  24. I will use references and URL's provided in the development of a technology skills self-assessment tool and links to online tutorials for Distance Learning students in the Fall 2004 semester.
    update my web site

  35. help students locate materials on the internet
  36. I will incorporate digital photos into 2 course lectures.
  37. Learned much more about the underlying digital information of pixels, displays and formats. I use cameras all the time in documenting children at work and at play.
  38. I will experiment with the Hot Potatoes program to create interactive language practice for Spanish students. Eventually I plan to put my "creations" on a Blackboard site, or find another way to make these exercises available to my students.
  39. i will contact ids directly to get more detailed info about how to start developing my ideas. i must have example before i can ask my department to let me pilot a hybid course.
  40. I can access new research to include in lectures
  41. I will adopt the three-step process in designing a project for my economics students. I did not realize how much planning goes into a 10 min video presentation. I appreciate your presentation a lot.
  42. I will shoot some videos at the the next Economics conference and use them as clips in my class.
  43. help students use library resources
  44. Learning about Flash is another tool to use to help students learn.
  45. I am going to conduct a hybrid course in the fall.
  46. To create interactive quizzing -- using the template for multiple choice that staff is creating.
  47. I don't know for sure. From my stand point these things need to be looked at very carefuly with only improved student learning as the ONLY objective. I owe it to my students, my department and myself to keep looking at the advances made in integrating electronic communication techniques into teaching. I intend to survey my students this semester to gauge their interest into web-based teaching tools. I am not sure about any plans to integrate this into my teaching this year.
  48. I will utilize the skills I learned to update web pages and create interactive exercises. For example, in Immunohematology or Serology I will take pictures of tubes or slides with reactions, the student will mouse over the tubes to get the correct interpretation using the "hot spots". For my Phlebotomy course I can have a picture of an arm with the veins visible, the student can mouse over the veins to see the names.

  19. Improve overall appearance of adult ed web site. Need additional workshops on this topic.
  20. Plan to create interactive feedback form for the adult ed web site.
  21. I plan to change from FrontPage to DreamWeaver as soon as I learn more about it.
  22. To improve the web applications.
  23. I am getting learning new software to give myself better opportunities to be well rounded in my technology knowledge.
  24. I plan to use a Digital Camera that we have purchased.
  25. I took this course to brush up on my Dreamweaver skills.

  34. Will shorten the time I currently spend coding certain elements into my web pages.
  35. I will visit the media lab for more guidance this fall and I will enroll in a similar course to enhance my uderstanding of digital cameras.
  36. I had already heard about Hot Potatoes software and had downloaded and looked at it. The software will not do all I need it to do, but I thought maybe a newer version might be better.Continue learning Dreamweaver
  37. This will help me to apply my own software tools to edit pictures at work.
  38. This was a fact finding class for me. I am an Admin. Assist. This class was presented for teacher/pupil settings; however, I learned something from the information the was shared. Thank you for the class.
  1. I will probably use this program to create a survey to be filled out by our service isd's.
  2. Not sure at this time. Still gathering information on the best way to create a web-based feedback document for our department without having to hire a programmer.
  3. Research and Development.

  16. Brought new insight to something I have been doing a short while
  17. I will register for additional workshops in this field in the fall
  18. I will register for a class or owrkshop with the presenter this fall
  19. I will sign up for an additional class to learn proper techniques.

  • Effective on-line assessments Assessing discussion board participationn(x3)

Web

  • I'd like to do webpage design workshops.(x6)
  • Advanced Dreamweaver. (x13)
  • I think something like this has been offered before, but a workshop that deals specifically with adding graphic elements to a web page, but is still readable by students with disabilities using sight-aid technology.
  • I need more than just basic Dreamweaver and CSS looks very promising.
  • Layers, timelines, and more behaviors in Dreamweaver.
  • More on Style Sheets in Dreamweaver (x10)
  • Perhaps an Advanced Dreamweaver session for those who use Dreamweaver regularly.
  • And also a beginner session to help instructors who have never opened the program but want to learn what it can do.
  • Style Sheets (x6)
  • Why use web pages.

Digital Images

  • Graphic Design, not the mechanics of creating a webpage or brochure but some basic design principles.

  • the followup workshop to working w/digital pictures.
  • more on photoshop
  • Additional training on editing digital photos and bringing them into your website.
  • More hands on use of software for photos.

Video

  • Basics of good filming.
  • How to edit your video and basic effects (Final Cut and After Effects). Cross platform video capture devices (firewire etc)
  • Digital video is increasingly becoming a valuable learning tool and Final Cut Pro would be a good session to have.

  • Content management software (x6)
  • Offer more PowerPoint presentations
  • Longer session on cross platform integration. Many of us use Mac and PC
  • Streaming Media/Flash (or any other 2 programs) informative session on how these two mediums can be used together to create a better module.

Suggestions relating to this session
  • Repeat popular sessions more often. Convert to online format as much as possible. You are doing a fabulous job!!!
  • What is offered is wonderful! And I really appreciate the follow-up support of the presenters with whom I have worked when I get to the implementation phase after taking a workshop! THANKS!!!Very helpful.
  • S/He is not a good public speaker.
  • Too short for the amount of info. Glad to know that we have cameras for checkout.
  • Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express video hands on editing.
  • Digital video could definitely be a longer session.
  • Could be a hair longer.
  • Mention the cross platform nature of most of this equipment. Mac/Win etc.
  • The session was too short for the amount of material covered; it would have been helpful to have more time (1.5 hours?)
  • The session was very informative, as all attendees were able to address their concerns and questions.
  • It was extremely helpful to be able to discuss these topics with other Blackboard users as well as with staff. I'd suggest offering these round table discussions on a regular basis out at the campuses with the instructional designers to provide a structure for on-going topics to be addressed, as well as to keep informed on new developments.
  • Clarify the description in the workshop database.
  • S/He did a superb job, as always. S/He is an extremely gifted teacher & superb instructional design profesional. The session was most informative and beneficial. Keep up the great work!
  • I wish there could of been more instructors, I think it would of been very useful to hear what was said and give their own issues with the IVC.
  • This was good, S/He gave us lots of examples and let us look through them and try to come up with what we liked or disliked about them. The various examples also showed all the kinds of ways streaming media can be used, I don't think all the instructors even realized how much can be done with it.
  • The woman next to me (not sure if anyone else had issues) kept getting lost and confused. I am unsure if she had ever used Dreamweaver before. Perhaps staff could of asked if people were caught up.
  • I almost didn't go to this one because I had already learned how to make forms in Dreamweaver.
  • No time for activity. We were shown lots of amazing creations, but barely saw any created by ACC. Would ACC be able to create sites like the the ones s/he showed us? S/he probably needed to go over, more in-depth, of how an instuctor can get something like that started, who they would contact and the amount of work it takes to create something like that.
  • Perhaps suggest why the premade Flash buttons aren't always the best thing to use and show how you can get an effect using a rollover (as a button). Show some of the innovative ways others have used simple image maps or rollover other than to make their site pretty...like with the rollover - have a picture that poses a question and the answer appears when you roll over it.
  • The flash pages we looked at were great and evidently took teams of people to create. That discourages me from pursuing flash. I need more simple community college examples.
  • S/He had a lot of good ideas. It was useful.
  • Room too cold. Didn't finish on time.
  • Room was too cold. Started on time, but didn't stop on time. Need a break between sessions.
  • More time for training
  • Handouts could be substantially improved so that participants would at least have reference materials for later review
  • Suggest types of additional training in this area that might be helpful
  • I'd like to see this class offered in a 3 hour mode instead of 50 minutes.
  • I misunderstood that I can take this workshop anytime Friday to Sunday. It turned out that I cannot do everything in one day.
  • this presentation was well assembled and presented.
  • Not under our control but the room was not conducive to having an assistant help slower learners while the instructor continued with the rest of the class.
  • None. An excellent presenter
  • None. S/He demonstrated s/he is not only an expert in his filed but also an excellent teacher/presenter.
  • Well presented. The presenter allowed us to experience the cameras and ask responded to individual questions very well
  • Need more time to be exposed to more techniques
  • Need more time to let each particpant plan and design a project in his /her discipline
  • The workshop should be an hour and a half so as to let the participants try their hands at shooting a
  • video
  • finish on time
  • prepare ahead of time
  • stay on topic
  • Better presentation equipment because the screen was impossible to read--it had purple spots all over it.
  • The session was well run and informative. It lacked the the evidence that this style of teaching is effective. This could be due to the fact that it is new and few people are using it.
  • text in presentation and leaflet was too small and hard to read.
  • None. Whenever you do a workshop with "live" technology glitches will occur. I've been around long enough that I don't hold it against the presenter. Without the hands-on experience utilized in this workshop the session would have been very ineffective.
  • I would like to use this information but the session went way too fast and I was lost. The instructor kept saying s/he would help lost people catch up, but s/he did not.
  • There were way too many people in the class and some had to sit at the back of the room. There was only limited opportunity to examine the college cameras, and those who owned cameras (as I do) never really got a chance to understand the functions -- all was geared towards the ACC check-out cameras.
  • The sessions could be a little longer due to the massive amount of info involved.
  • You are doing a good job now.
  • Too tired to think of any right now, these sessions were GREAT! Offer them again and give more advanced warning. I do not recall seeing anything about these offerings until last week.
  • I keep my eye on the offered workshops. When something is offered that is useful to me, I attend it. One problem is many of these are offered on weekedays when I have classes.
  • I have no suggestions. I already wish I had more time to take more of what is currently offered!
  • It would be nice to have this set up as an online experience.
  • It would be nice for something like this to be available as an online training experience.
  • More of the same (x4)
  • More of these one day interrelated workshops are convenient for faculty members who are unable to attend during the regular semester (x6)
  • More online classes
