The ACAP Process

Prior to the scheduled ACAP the facilitators develop an initial competency list based on a variety of resources. During the session the SME's add, delete and modify the competency list to accurately reflect the needs of their area. In addition, the SME's determine the skill level requirements in the three to WorkKeys skill areas for entry-level and proficiency.

The ACAP Report

The ACAP Report can be used in several ways. The main purpose of the report is to provide a basis for developing, validating and revising the curriculum for programs to meet current needs in business and industry. Because the ACAP Report defines Units, Competencies, and Competency Builders, it provides a clear transition into course/program curricula. In addition, the WorkKeys occupational profile provides the skill levels needed to perform effectively in a variety of academic skill areas. Students may be assessed to determine how their current skill levels meet those requirements and individualized training can be developed to address any deficiencies.

The ACAP Report also provides valuable information to employers about the competencies and skill levels needed by their employees. This information can provide a basis for effective training for existing employees. All companies that participate in the ACAP process receive an ACAP report free of charge.
