Master Syllabus Overview

Below you will find links to information and corresponding documents about the Master Syllabus and Class Syllabus. These documents represent the work of an ad hoc committee of the Curriculum and Programs Committee, the Curriculum and Programs Committee, and the Academic Council. It also reflects the input of numerous individuals, the Faculty Senate, and the Adjunct Faculty Association.

It has long been felt by many that the college should have a "standardized Master Syllabus." For some, that has meant standardizing teaching and for others merely a standardized format. These documents attempt to solve many of the problems that are created by a syllabus that is either incomplete or vague, while giving disciplines and faculty members as much freedom as possible to teach in the way that they deem necessary. These documents also provide direction to faculty who are new to teaching and need assistance in developing their course syllabi.
