Connecting the Respondus Authoring Tool to Blackboard for the First Time
Prior to uploading an exam to Blackboard for the first time, a profile needs to be created which connects the Respondus Authoring Tool with Blackboard. These settings only need to be input once by the instructor.
Since Respondus will not make a connection to Blackboard without at least one exam question, an exam question(s) file must first be either opened, created, or imported within the Respondus Authoring Tool before using the Publishing Wizard.

To connect the Respondus Authoring Tool to Bb for the first time:
- Select the Preview and Publish tab along the top of the screen.
Note: before you connect to Blackboard for the first time, you will need to have at least one test question within Respondus. To do this, select Create from Respondus' main menu and then select a sample question type (i.e. True/False, MC, etc.). Input a sample question. You can always delete this question after you create your connection to Blackboard.
- Select the Publish to Blackboard tab along the left side of the screen
- Click on the Publish Wizard
- In Box One of the Blackboard Server and Course box, type the following URL: http://acconline.austincc.edu/webapps/login (see below)
- Log into your Bb course site, and select Control Panel.
- Right-click on the Control Panel link, select Copy Shortcut (or Copy Link Location), paste the link into box 2.
- Pressing Extract fills in box 3 information automatically.
- Type a name for the Blackboard server settings by typing a name in the Description field.
- Enter your Bb User ID and Password.
- Check the Remember my user ID and password checkbox if you want Respondus to upload future exams automatically without you having to type your Bb user ID and password each time you want to upload a test.
