Gradebook Import

Gradebooks can be uploaded via the Control Panel > Gradebook > Upload Grades
This is where you tell Blackboard what columns to upload - and whether you are writing over an existing column, or creating a new column in Blackboard.Go to: Gradebook - Upload Grades

  • Select File - click Browse to locate the csv file you wish to upload data from
  • Click Submit
  • Choose Imported Item - this section gives you a list of columns in the file you have uploaded. Use the radio buttons to select which column you will be uploading.
    *Note:
    You can only upload 1 column at a time.
  • Choose Existing Item - this section gives you a list of columns that exist in your Blackboard gradebook. Use the radio buttons to select which column you will import the new column's data INTO -OR- select Create New Gradebook Item to add a whole new column.
  • Click Submit
  • If you have chosen to Create New Gradebook Item, you will be brought to the Add/Modify Gradebook Item screen, where you will specify certain settings for your new column. Click Submit when you have finished.
  • Next, you will be asked which students' information should be imported. Use the Select All link to choose all students, or use the checkboxes to select specific students. Click Submit when you have made your selections.
  1. Source = the data in the original column on Blackboard, if applicable
  2. Destination = the data to be imported into that column from the uploaded file
  • Check your gradebook for the new/updated column to ensure the data was imported properly. Also check for duplicate columns or any other changes to columns that you did not expect
